I’ve been getting this a lot lately.

Time to address it head on.

“What’s the deal with you Democrats, anyway? Why do you need to be so negative and pessimistic about Trump? We may not have liked Obama, but we were never so loud and radical and ornery and downright uppity as you are! Why can’t you give the guy a chance, like we did for the sake of the country?!?”

Well. Overlooking the obvious selective memory, revisionist history, and euphoric recall… oh, heck… let’s just call it “bullshit”….

Do you realize what you actually just told me?

YOU LIKED ALMOST EVERYTHING OBAMA DID.

Yeah, I’ll let that sink in for a moment.

It’s very obvious that you approved of most of Obama’s agenda, proposals, and initiatives, or at least you didn’t disapprove of them enough to get off your dead ass and do anything meaningful about them. Passive-aggressive simpering and keyboard crusading don’t count.

If you seriously believed anything Obama did to be a real threat to our country, you’d be doing the same thing the left is doing now: taking it to the streets. But you didn’t, and you’re trying to brag about that.

Climb down off your high horse. Don’t make a virtue out of your indifference. Your failure isn’t any sign of patriotism or moral superiority – it simply means you didn’t mind Obama that much at all.

Grow up.

Thank you, Mr. President.

To paraphrase H.L. Mencken: In this world of sin and sorrow there is always something to be thankful for. As for me, I give thanks that I lived in the United States of America while our President was Barack Obama.

President Obama was so much better than our country deserved. He persevered despite others in our own government openly and brazenly defying him at every turn. Despite people outside our government actively attempting to undermine and discredit him. Despite citizens acting out of racism and fear to demean and insult him and his family.

The sad truth is: anyone who disrespected him still received the benefits of his efforts and judgment. I’ve asked many people if they can tell me even one thing they were able to do before Obama’s Presidency that they weren’t allowed to do anymore. Answer? Crickets.

He wasn’t perfect. There will never be a President whom I agree with 100%. In part, that’s because he was President for all the people of this country, not just a favored few.

And to quote John Pavlovitz: “If I prove to be wrong (about Trump), it will be one of the most joyful errors of my life. I will own these words and if necessary, willingly and gladly admit my misjudgment because it will mean that America is a better and stronger nation, and the world a more peaceful place. But right now I don’t see that happening.”

I’ve lived under eleven Presidents, soon to be twelve. The one whose character has been the most noble and ennobling is President Barack Obama. Thank you, sir.

Yup.

Decades before its time.

Can I just point out that “Looney Tunes” and “The Dover Boys” invented “the Dab” seventy-five years ago?

A one-eighty.

Before the election, Trump and his minions shouted long and loud about how they knew for a solid fact that the election was RIGGED.

Since the election: not a peep, not a tweet.

Does anyone else think this sudden silence about something they were so sure of is strange? Especially now that we have evidence of Russia’s shenanigans?

“I’ll take ‘Hypocritical Sacks Of Shit’ for $100, Alex.”

Unfair.

“Down through the village with a broomstick in his hand / Running here and there, all around the square, shouting ‘Catch me if you can.'”

Okay, a magical snowman does that, and he’s a beloved holiday story.

But when I do it, I’m a public nuisance.

Remember the “Batman” TV series from the mid-60s?

Whenever Joker, Penguin, Riddler, or whoever would make a huge heist, they not only would leave astonishingly obvious clues — they would openly taunt Batman and Robin to come and capture them.

This is what Trump and Putin are doing right now.

“Holy elections, Batman!”

“Right, old chum. Unless I miss my guess.. this is the work of Mister Tiny Hands and The Red Meddler.”

Yup.

In Soviet Russia, President betrays YOU! Oh wait…..

15439770_10154075453989249_7033108776293194177_nI keep getting told that I need to accept the results of the election because Hillary was fatally flawed, unpopular, and out of touch with Americans.

Yeah. The fatally flawed candidate who got nearly three million more votes than Trump did. The unpopular and out-of-touch candidate that it took the RNC, the FBI, Wikileaks, and Russia to beat – just barely.

Bullshit. Let’s get one thing straight. Hillary did not lose this election. It was taken from her.

Between oppressive voter ID laws (in response to-non existent “voter fraud”), fake news, right-wing extremist thug tactics, gerrymandered election districts, polling place closings, restrictions on voting hours, a decision by GOP leadership to cover up the espionage pre-election, and – YES – sabotage by Russia, the election was taken away by the party that has shown us over and over again that it CAN’T WIN A FAIR FIGHT.

If I were a Republican, I’d hang my head over a “win” like this. As George Takai famously put it: if there’s interference, you don’t count the touchdown.

Any Trump voter who sees nothing wrong with Russian interference and GOP cover-up – after losing your mind over emails and Benghazi – you’re a hypocrite.

Our Constitution does not allow for a do over. And Trump won’t quit, though I bet he wants to. Either the Electors need to grow spines and do the right thing, or the House Democrats need to draw up Articles of Impeachment to deliver ten minutes after Trump’s inauguration.

This isn’t a Republican or Democrat issue. There’s no sides on this except patriots and traitors. Choose a side. Choose wisely.
