Song of the day: “I Like You” by Taylor Ferrera

Taylor Ferrera is one of the new-to-me singer/songwriters I tumbled across in 2013. Amazingly talented, insightful, and funny. Imagine if Cole Porter sat down to riff with Tina Fey and Kathy Griffin, and you might get close to Taylor’s style.

Someday, when she’s world-famous, remember where you heard of her first. You’re welcome.

I… like you
And when I see you, I really like you
I want to be wrapped in your arms
And to succumb to all your charms
And realize the extent to which

I like you
And when you’re near me, I really like you
Because of what you have told me
Though you might be much older than me
I think you’re gold
And you are ripe for the mold
And, baby, you’ve got me sold
And there’s no one I would hold
Above you
So I’d really like to say
I love…

The way I like you

And when I smell you, I really like you
When you’re away from me I miss you
And I really want to kiss you
It’s obvious I’m in a pinch

‘Cause I like you
When I go through your trash, it’s just ’cause I like you
So let’s forget all the nay-
Sayers, we will find a way
To be together, I say
Until our final day
Which will be in May
When into the bay
I’ll shove you
So eternally you’ll know
I love yo… I love…

The way I like you

And when you’re frightened, mm, I really like you
I know that I am not much to you
But why, when I touch, do you
Call the authorities?

I like you
When I leave threatening notes, it’s just ’cause I like you
So won’t you give me a chance
To take a lead in this dance
Please make the judge change his stance
So you and I can romance
Right from our very first glance
I knew I’d get in the pants
Of you
And eventually I’d say
I love you…
I… love… rather… the way that…

I like you
I like you
I like you
I like you
I like you
